Basset Hound — Coat
Which of the following best describes the Basset Hound's coat according to the AKC standard?
The guard hairs of the coat must be long, well fitting, straight and abundant. They should not be silky or wiry.
The coat is hard, smooth, and short, with sufficient density to be of use in all weather. The skin is loose and elastic.
It is doubled coated. The entire body is covered with a long, dense, shaggy, thick coat that is reasonably straight.
Short and dense, giving good weather protection.
