Cairn Terrier — Coat
Which of the following best describes the Cairn Terrier's coat according to the AKC standard?
A close, hard, hound coat of medium length. Defects-A short thin coat, or of a soft quality.
Coat is brilliant, short and smooth. Skin is soft and loose, especially at the head and shoulders, forming wrinkles.
There are two varieties; Smooth coat which is short and very dense. Wire coat (rough) is long and harsh.
Hard and weather-resistant. Must be double-coated with profuse harsh outer coat and short, soft, close furry undercoat.
