Irish Setter — Coat
Which of the following best describes the Irish Setter's coat according to the AKC standard?
Short and fine on head and forelegs. On all other parts of moderate length and flat.
Double coated, heavy, straight, hard, dense, not woolly or silky, of good length.
There are two varieties; Smooth coat which is short and very dense. Wire coat (rough) is long and harsh.
The coat is smooth, short, dense, tight and glossy.
